Simple, sustainable choices
To give our customers the opportunity to design packaging solutions that have less impact on the environment, Avisera offers a wide range of sustainable materials. By choosing our products with a focus on the environment, sustainability and recycling, we create a greener future together.
AIRTAPE – For reduced resource consumption
AirTape™ is the new generation of packaging tape and is completely unique on the market. AirTape, a high-quality packaging tape, has strong adhesive properties and great environmental benefits.
The tape has a thickness of just 19 mu, compared to the current standard of 28 mu, which results in reduced raw material consumption during production, while carbon dioxide emissions per meter of tape are reduced by approximately 30%.
AirTape is 100% recyclable and thanks to the reduced thickness of the packaging tape, both transportation and storage costs are lower. A whole 24 metres more tape fit on a roll of the same size and weight as a standard roll.
Both the cost and the environmental impact of AirTape are lower throughout its entire life cycle.

FSCⓇ – FOR SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY MANAGEMENT
All Avisera’s paper bags are FSCⓇ certified (Forest Stewardship CouncilⓇ) as standard, at no extra cost. FSCⓇ is an independent international member organisation that promotes sustainable forestry, as well as safe and healthy working conditions for forestry workers.
FSCⓇ certification means that our customers get packaging solutions and printed goods guaranteed to have been manufactured in accordance with the most extensive social and environmental standards on the market. Enquire about our FSCⓇ certified products. (License number: C110916)
SWAN LABELLED PAPER
Paper production accounts for the largest environmental impact of a printed product, therefore Avisera’s printed goods can be ordered in Swan-labelled paper.
The Swan label guarantees that the wood does not come from forests with a high biological or social value. At least 20 percent must come from certified sustainable forestry (for example FSC®). Or the raw material should consist of more than 75 percent recycled paper.
Recycled paper and cardboard is the environmental choice for bags and packaging. The material may differ somewhat in colour and print between batches, which is one of the properties of the material.
Recycled plastic, so-called Re-LDPE, is the environmental choice for our plastic bags and e-commerce bags. A plastic bag made of 40-80% recycled material has the same properties and standard of quality as a regular plastic bag.
The material can differ somewhat in colour and structure, and it may have an effect on the printing process.
Degradable plastic starts to degrade naturally after about 18 months. The material has the same properties and is as strong as regular plastic, LDPE .
Thanks to an additive, the bag “is programmed” to degrade and after about 2-5 years, the bag has degraded completely into water, carbon dioxide and biomass. The degradation time may be affected by external factors such as temperature, friction, light, motion, etc.
For some of our plastic bags we offer an environmental choice containing corn starch. The corn starch based polymer is biodegradable into industrial compost, in accordance with the requirements of the EN13432 European standard.
The material fulfils the same functions as traditional plastic, but is broken down and biologically composted over time with the help of microorganisms.
For some of our plastic bags we offer an more environmental friendly plastic containing an additive derived from seashell. This plastic is a sustainable polyethylene material, made of the renewable raw materials, calcium carbonate and talc.
This material is an cost-effective, durable environmental plastic that increases energy efficiency during the manufacturing process, reduces the use of petrochemical derivatives and leads to reduced carbon dioxide emissions.
Cotton is a controversial material that requires large amounts of water during growth and manufacturing. Canvas bags made of cotton are sustainable from a reusability perspective, as the material is washable and very durable, which increases the likelihood of it actually being kept and used many times over a long period of time.
Fairtrade certified cotton provides consumers with an opportunity to contribute to improving working and living conditions for farmers and workers in countries with widespread poverty. The certification requires explicit rules for the handling of chemicals, including measures to promote health, requirements for the development of democracy and sustainable production.
Cotton farming is classed as organic when it has been free from chemical pesticides and fertilisers for at least three years. The production is as energy efficient as possible, and is carried out using groundwater.
In addition to organic cotton having less impact on the environment, the cotton generally maintains a higher level of quality compared to conventionally grown cotton.
Confidence in textiles is an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate materials and end products at all stages of production.
OEKO-TEX® testing for harmful substances is always adapted to the actual area of application of the textile. The greater the contact between the skin and the product, the higher the ecological requirements that must be met.
ALTERNATIVES TO COTTON
The two durable and sustainable materials PP Non-Woven and jute are good alternatives for designing reusable bags and carrier bags.
